GEFCO Poland is part of the GEFCO Group, one of Europe's ten largest logistics operators. The company has been operating on the Polish market since April 1999, with headquarters in Warsaw and branches in thirteen locations across the country. It employs more than 600 people and offers global and innovative logistics solutions.
For more than a dozen years, GEFCO Poland had been using the STIM suggestion system, which relied on paper forms. This system did not work well, and employees were reluctant to report problems and their ideas for solving them. Despite many activation campaigns, the effects were short-lived.
Starting in 2019, GEFCO Poland began building a Lean culture. 40 team leaders participated in the Lean Green Belt® development program, as well as in the pilot of the Sherlock Waste system. Following the positive results of the pilot, Sherlock Waste was implemented for all employees in 2020. Preparation, training and on-boarding took place fully remotely.
The implementation of Sherlock Waste has yielded impressive results for GEFCOM:
"Sherlock waste limited liability company" implements the project: "Expansion of products of Sherlock Waste company to foreign markets." under the contract POIR.03.03.03-02-0138/20-00 in the Operational program Intelligent Development 2014-2020, 3.3.3 Support for SMEs in the Promotion of Product Brands - GoToBrand. The aim of the project is to reach new foreign markets with the company's products, in particular the USA, UK, DAH and the Middle East. Total project value: 332,520 PLN net Total EU funding: PLN 282,642 net.
